Message from our President

Greetings Members and Friends of Rotary e-Club of Silicon Valley. As President of our Club, I want to welcome you all today.

WEEKLY FUNNY WITH SHAGS

We believe laughter is an important part of life, and we should all make time to laugh a little. This segment of our meeting is meant to tickle you just enough. These funnies are curated by member Steven "Shags" Shagrin!

My Throat Hurts

Doctor, Doctor, I have a hoarse throat.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but the resemblance doesn't end there!

INSPIRATION

Every week we share a short video highlighting innovation, education, entrepreneurship, or whatever we think might inspire you to see the world in new ways.

Several years ago, we featured a wildly cool video about the "paperfuge," a one-dollar centrifuge that requires no electricity and can be used in clinics anywhere in the world. Following a suggestion from Shags, we'll highlight another win that came from Manu Prakash's lab at Stanford. With graduate student Jim Cybulski, the pair managed to come up with a way to make a microscope in a way that may remind you of origami. Take a look!

Happy dollars is an opportunity to share something positive that has happened in your life whether it is personal or business. Think of it as your opportunity to brag a little, but also put a little bit into a karma jar. The money donated through happy dollars is put to charitable use.

PROGRAM: Empowering Children Through Education & Dreaming: Breaking Poverty Cycles

SPEAKER: Shannon Rizzo

Every week we bring to you a new program on innovation, entrepreneurship, and education, and how those contribute to service to others.

The Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley seeks to explore perspectives on service from across the world. The views of the speakers in our programs are their own, and unless stated otherwise, are not necessarily reflective of the views of our eClub or Rotary International.

If you have an idea for a cool speaker, please feel free to reach out to them directly or submit THIS FORM so our Program Committee can contact them!

Boundless Foundation empowers impoverished children through education and resources, inspiring them to "learn to dream," helping them rise above their daily struggle for survival and see a brighter future by opening their minds to new possibilities. The foundation's "Epic Exchange" program offers donors the chance to see the impact of their investments firsthand, experiencing the joy of giving and making a difference in the world. These visits open the hearts of the donor and expand the minds of the children instantly. Join us in transforming individuals and communities locally and globally for generational impact.

Our speaker, Shannon Rizzo, is a humanitarian and social change catalyst with over 25 years of experience as a successful entrepreneur. Shannon consults with change leaders of nonprofit organizations, conscious corporations, and social entrepreneurs globally by advising them on all aspects of how to create a lasting living legacy by building communities with educational opportunities in some of the poorest corners of the world.

Coming from poverty and overcoming the effects of living in survival mode for much of her life, Shannon has taken on the mission of ending generational poverty through education in developing nations in as many underserved communities as she can by uniting communities of compassionate supporters and continuous learners. To date, Shannon's charity, Boundless Foundation, has built 9 schools in under 2 years and has united over 60 communities both in the US and abroad, introducing them to the power of giving at a higher capacity. Shannon's deepest passion is serving those who serve.

Members and guests, please welcome Shannon Rizzo!
